1920: the original design of this specific work of art first came from the western part of India. Later, our Master Craftsmen in Kashmir were stunned by the similarities between the depicted boat and those found where affluent Kashmiri people live on Dal lake. We asked them to create a grand tapestry from this design. Numerous symbols, stories and representations from the Book of genesis are present: celestial signs, the peacock – symbol of protection for the animal kingdom – and the olive tree branch carried by the white dove of peace. Luxury is in the details, and these symbols link cultures and bring a feeling of continuity through the centuries.
This outstanding work of art invites us to meditate and contemplate.
